ABOUT OUR FOUNDATION

The Foundation is the charitable arm of the Santa Clara Firefighters Local 1171 labor organization. The Foundation is a fully authorized, non-profit charitable organization 501(c)(3) that is committed to helping those in need within the city of Santa Clara, and others with special needs.

Your firefighters are deeply involved in community service. We feel truly honored to be part of a noble profession that has a long-standing reputation for helping anyone in need. Supporting these noble causes is one way for firefighters to give back to the community. Santa Clara and its citizens show strong support for their public safety providers. This is our

It was after one of the most tragic fires in Santa Clara, the Malarin fire in 2002, that we started the Santa Clara Firefighters Foundation as a 501(3)C. While we were always active in our community, we did not have a formal way of accepting donations, fundraising and then giving back to our community. The Foundation principles of charity, community and compassion live within everyone us and through our programs. Over the years, our foundations have contributed over a $100,000 to our community and thousands of hours of mentorship, community engagement and volunteerism.

OUR PROGRAMS

Better Together

The Better Together program provides coaching and mentorship to participants to learn life-long skills. The program teams up two facilitators from Local 1171 with a group of sixth grade students.

SENIOR ASSIST

The Senior Assist program is a yard clean up program designed to help senior citizens within the City of Santa Clara. The firefighters of Santa Clara Local 1171 volunteer there off duty time to make this program work.

OUR EVENTS

FIREHOUSE RUN

The Firehouse Run is a newly established 5k and 10k running event organized by the Santa Clara Firefighters Foundation.

Fire Up the Holidays

A toy drive to help collect toys and give local families the opportunity to pick out gifts and enjoy the holiday.

CRAB FEED

Bring your families and break out the bibs at the Santa Clara Firefighters Foundation’s Annual Crab Feed.
